TEDCO’s Seed Investment Funds is a program that provides early-stage capital and support to technology-based startups in Maryland. In this announcement TEDCO allocated $1,000,000 across ten companies to help them develop and commercialize new products. TEDCO says its seed recipients are generally less than five years old with fewer than 20 employees, and the investments aim to spur follow-on financing, job creation, and sustainability. Recipients were vetted by a Seed Investment Review Committee composed of independent industry experts, investors, C-suite executives and members of TEDCO’s team. Highlighted portfolio companies include Blue Sources, which has an exclusive patent license with the U.S. Army and expects a production-ready offering by Q4 after an engineering and manufacturing deal in Q2 2017. TEDCO has provided funding, mentoring and networking for over nineteen years and is frequently ranked as one of the most active seed/early-stage investors in the nation.
