SeekSherpa is a Delhi-based mobile marketplace that connects travelers with local guides ('Sherpas') and curates short, hyper-local experiences via a mobile app. The platform uses Google Cloud Messaging to let locals post experiences and for travelers to book them or direct questions to chosen locals. Typical experiences cost less than Rs 3,000 per traveler and last under three hours, and can include local music lessons, food tastings and photography drives. The company reports 500 Sherpas across 26 cities and is aiming to scale to 10,000; it onboards Sherpas with the help of interns. Operationally it has about 15 interns and one full-time employee. Co-founders Dhruv Raj Gupta and Sukhmani Singh plan to use the funds to grow the Sherpa network and operations; management says the funds will last about a year.
