Suite 890 1550 Bryant Street, San Francisco, CA, 94103, United States
Overview
Seesmic develops desktop, web, and mobile clients that help individuals and companies monitor and track the social web, integrating with Twitter, Facebook and other networks. Its apps aggregate streams from services including YouTube, Foursquare, Techmeme and LinkedIn. The company launched a deep integration with Salesforce’s enterprise social network, Chatter, last year. Founded by Loic Le Meur, Seesmic serves both consumer and enterprise users and has been pushing further into the enterprise market. The company said the new investment will be used to expand its enterprise base of customers. Seesmic has raised a total of $16 million to date. Seesmic is a video-focused, Twitter-like startup that enables short, random video discussions. The company is in a closed beta and is reported to be doing well during that period. Founder Loic Le Meur is French and this is his first U.S. startup. Seesmic announced a $6 million Series A round, with most of the financing provided by Atomico. Atomico is noted as being founded by Skype’s Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, and the round was rounded out by a long list of angel investors. TechCrunch's author notes they are an investor and expresses strong expectations for the company's future. Much of the funding news had been reported late the prior year and the round was detailed in a blog post by Le Meur.
