Overview

SeeWhy delivers real-time, automated website analytics and remarketing tools designed to reach visitors at the moment they abandon an online purchase or form. Its core product, the SeeWhy Conversion Manager, recaptures website abandoners in real time. The company emphasizes solving website abandonment as it happens, differentiating it from other solutions that do not address abandonments immediately. According to SEC filings, SeeWhy has raised $2.25 million of a planned $3 million round. Nine separate investors participated in the offering. The company is based in Boston, MA. SeeWhy is an Andover, MA–based startup that markets tools to help ecommerce sites and online retailers increase conversion rates via 're-marketing' or 're-conversion'. Its entirely SaaS product suite, called Abandonment Tracker, enables automatic or manual follow-up with visitors who abandon purchases and offers a free limited-feature tier. The company claims rapid follow-up of people who drop out of the buying process can increase conversion rates up to 50%. Current customers named in the article include Mastercard, Diageo, Radware and eCourier.co.uk. Financially, SeeWhy raised $4.5M earlier this year and has added a $2M second round from most of its current shareholders, bringing known funding to $6.5M. The company said it plans to add additional investors through 2010. SeeWhy offers a suite of real-time web analytic applications, including a free Abandonment Tracker available as a software-as-a-service. The Abandonment Tracker captures unique IDs of website abandoners and emails those IDs to the website operator for targeted follow-up campaigns. When a visitor lands on a page again, an event is sent to SeeWhy’s data center; if the visitor does not convert, SeeWhy records the abandonment and details such as email address, shopping cart items and amount, and the stage in the conversion process. The product is designed to recapture abandoned revenue by re-converting visitors in near real-time. SeeWhy’s applications are used by both large and small e-commerce companies, including Amazon.com, eBay, Land’s End, Citibank and MasterCard. The company recently raised outside funding as described below.
