Sendbox
62 Old Yaba Road, Lagos, Nigeria
Overview
Sendbox aggregates multiple logistics providers to offer e-commerce fulfillment for African merchants, starting in Nigeria. Founded in 2016 and fully launched in 2018 by Emotu Balogun and Olusegun Afolahan, it combines technology and offline methods to manage local and international deliveries. The company is accessible via iOS, Android, web, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, e-commerce platforms and developer APIs and has reached over 10,000 merchants. Sendbox reports more than 200,000 deliveries since inception, with 35–40% international shipments, and says revenue and transactions have grown 300% year over year over the past three years. It offers next-day delivery within Lagos, three-to-five-day nationwide delivery and five-to-seven-day international delivery, and says merchants save roughly 30–40% per item on average. Sendbox shares generated revenue with logistics providers as part of its model and plans to expand product capabilities, add financing and payments, hire talent, and move into other West and East African markets.
