Thomas Mannplaats 307, Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, 3069 NJ, The Netherlands
Overview
Sensara provides a senior lifestyle monitoring service built from movement sensors (no cameras), a self-learning algorithm that recognizes individual behavior patterns and detects deviations, and an application that sends notifications to caretakers or family members. The product is sold to senior care institutions and home care organizations to enable early detection of changes in lifestyle and prevent crisis situations. Founded in 2013 as a spin-off of Dutch research organization TNO, the company is led by CEO Reinout Engelberts. Sensara raised €3.8m in funding to support its operations. The company intends to use the funds to scale up sales, continue product development, broaden customer service and expand internationally. The round was led by KPN Ventures with participation from Van Herk Ventures and the company’s management.
