Overview
Sensdata Ltd develops SensSlip, an automatic system that monitors slippage in belt drive systems used across manufacturing machinery. As belts slip, processes become less efficient, energy is wasted and belts are more likely to break; SensSlip is designed to reduce energy use, downtime, maintenance costs and carbon emissions by ensuring maintenance is carried out only when needed. The system was developed by Sheffield-based engineer Robert Brown and, with help from investor Simon Smith, gained remote monitoring features so data can be viewed online and maintenance staff receive email or text alerts. Sensdata has raised £80,000 from local business angel Simon Smith, who has also contributed to product feature development. Following the investment, the company is recruiting sales staff and plans to promote the product to the manufacturing and utility sectors in the New Year. The company is based in Rotherham and the investor said the potential market is substantial in the UK and Europe.
