Sensity Systems builds Light Sensory Networks by embedding sensors, wireless connectivity, and data analytics into LED luminaires to collect and transmit data and enable cloud-based applications. Its NetSense platform is an open, privacy-by-design, multiservice cloud offering that supports applications for smart cities, parking management, retail location analytics, public safety, environmental monitoring and other services. The company uses energy-efficient LED lighting as the foundation and targets lighting owners converting to LED to monetize installations through IoT services. Sensity closed a $36M private funding round led by Cisco Investments with participation from Acuity Brands, GE Ventures and Simon Venture Group, bringing total capital raised to $74M. The new funding will be used to scale the NetSense platform, expand the application developer program globally and support rapidly growing sales and LSN installations worldwide. Sensity is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, and intends to accelerate deployment of its IoT applications ecosystem to enable customers to optimize operations, enhance security and reduce energy usage.
