Overview
Sensix is an agritech data-management platform based in Uberlândia that provides agricultural monitoring and data-management solutions. The company combines IoT data from drones with satellite imagery to generate decision prompts for farmers. Sensix currently controls hectares across five countries: Argentina, Paraguay, Colombia, Guatemala and Brazil. After closing a crowdfunding round that raised R$4.9 million, the company plans to expand market share, increase the area of monitored hectares and diversify revenue with new products and advisory services. CEO Carlos Ribeiro said the firm aims to become one of the leaders in agritech by leveraging its technology to deliver results for clients. Sensix provides FieldScan, a digital platform that ingests data from drones, satellites, soil samples, sensors and farm machinery to generate decision-support analyses and optimized input-application maps. The software identifies nutritional variability, maps soil fertility, quantifies plant populations, detects weeds and pest/disease hotspots, and highlights higher- and lower-productivity areas. Data can be collected by producers or a network of precision-agriculture consultants and operators, giving flexibility to align with farm schedules. Sensix reports serving more than 400,000 hectares in Brazil today and has grown at over 100% annually since 2017, targeting 1 million hectares by the end of 2021 across five countries. Customers include large agribusinesses such as Raízen, Philip Morris International and Algar Farming. Management cites a domestic market opportunity of roughly R$1 billion, which they expect to more than double with expansion into markets like Argentina and the United States. The company plans to use new investment to expand commercial operations and increase marketing.
