Overview
SentinelOne provides the Singularity XDR platform, a full XDR cybersecurity solution that protects and monitors every asset in the enterprise. The platform leverages patented behavioral AI models and unifies endpoint protection (EPP), endpoint detection and response (EDR), IoT control, and container and cloud-native workload protection (CWPP). Led by CEO and co‑founder Tomer Weingarten and COO Nicholas Warner, the company plans to use the new funding to continue accelerating growth driven by demand for Singularity XDR. The company is based in Mountain View, Calif. Since its Series E in February 2020, SentinelOne’s valuation has tripled, now exceeding $3 billion. It raised $267M in the Series F round. SentinelOne builds an AI- and machine-learning-based endpoint security platform called the Singularity Platform that monitors and secures laptops, phones, containerized applications and other devices at the network edge. The company traces its roots to the Israeli cyberintelligence community and is based in Mountain View. SentinelOne reports roughly 3,500 customers, including three of the biggest companies globally and "hundreds" from the global 2,000, and has posted 113% year-on-year new bookings growth, 104% revenue growth and 150% growth in transactions over $2 million. It has about 500 employees and plans to hire up to 700 by the end of the year. Management says the funding gives the company flexibility to remain private while scaling and that an IPO would be the "next logical step" though it is not in a rush, expecting one to two years of private growth. SentinelOne has not made acquisitions to date, and leadership noted consolidation in the security market could present acquisition opportunities. SentinelOne builds a fully autonomous, machine-learning driven endpoint protection platform that covers laptops, phones, containers, cloud services and IoT devices. The company emphasizes automated detection and response that reduces the need for human intervention, and it offers managed services under the Vigilance brand and works with system integrators. Leadership says the platform digests activity across millions of endpoints and billions of events to inform its models; SentinelOne reports more than 2,000 customers and 300% year-on-year growth. The company has focused on lowering false positives (reported at ~0.04%) and plans to expand product capabilities into automatic vulnerability patching and broader IoT coverage. Financially, SentinelOne has now raised just shy of $230 million in total funding and its valuation is up from prior rounds, with public reporting implying a post-round valuation above $330 million and possibly around $500 million. SentinelOne builds endpoint protection software that uses machine learning and behavioral analysis to detect and stop multiple-vector attacks. The company positions itself as a next-generation alternative to legacy antivirus vendors. Founded by Israeli entrepreneurs in 2013 and based in Silicon Valley, its co-founders are Tomer Weingarten (CEO), Almog Cohen (CTO) and Ehud Shamir (CSO). SentinelOne has enterprise customers including Time Inc. and recently signed a strategic North American distribution deal with Avnet. It announced a $70M C round, bringing total cash raised to more than $110M, and plans to use the capital to aggressively expand sales and marketing. Analysts Gartner and IDC estimate the global endpoint protection market could approach $10 billion by 2019. SentinelOne offers an Endpoint Protection Platform that uses patent-pending Dynamic Execution Inspection to detect and block advanced attacks across vectors on endpoint machines. The platform can protect desktops, laptops (Windows and OS X), tablets, smartphones, physical and virtual servers, and embedded systems including PoS and critical infrastructure. It is certified by the independent AV-TEST Institute to perform AV functions while providing an additional layer of advanced protection, and Forbes reported that Netflix is replacing legacy AV with SentinelOne. The company announced a $25M Series B, bringing total funding to nearly $40M, and said it will use the proceeds to expand sales, marketing, research & development and customer support. Planned geographic expansions include Mountain View, Tel Aviv, New York, Paris and Singapore, with new centers to be established in Boston and London. SentinelOne plans to more than double headcount to over 100 employees in the next six months.
