Overview
Sequenta is a biotechnology company developing clinical diagnostics based on immune cell receptor genes and has commercialized its LymphoSIGHT platform as the ClonoSIGHT MRD process. Its ClonoSIGHT MRD test uses sequencing-based assays and algorithms to detect and quantify minimal residual disease in lymphoid cancers and has been validated in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia and mantle cell lymphoma. The ClonoSIGHT workflow includes an ID test to identify cancer cell DNA sequences and an MRD test to screen follow-up samples, with results delivered in seven days from Sequenta’s CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory via a secure online portal. The LymphoSIGHT platform characterizes and enumerates B and T cells, detecting individual cells at levels as low as one cell per million white blood cells using multiplexed PCR and next-generation sequencing analysis. Sequenta plans to incorporate the ClonoSIGHT MRD test into clinical trials of medicines for hematological malignancies and to develop new diagnostics and applications for immune-mediated diseases and immune therapy approaches in solid tumors. The ClonoSIGHT process is used by physicians at major cancer centers throughout the United States, and the company has previously received venture funding from Mohr Davidow Ventures, Index Ventures and Foresite Capital. Sequenta develops and commercializes the LymphoSIGHT sequencing platform and the ClonoSIGHT clinical test to detect minimal residual disease (MRD) in lymphoid cancers. The ClonoSIGHT test, launched through Sequenta's CLIA-certified facility in South San Francisco, sequences unique DNA signatures in immune cells to track malignant sub-populations. The test can detect disease at sensitivities as low as one cell per million white blood cells and returns results in seven days. Sequenta is using its platform to better predict relapse risk and guide post-treatment care, while continuing clinical validation in additional disease indications. The company is venture-backed and completed a $20 million Series C to fund commercial scale-up and further clinical validation of ClonoSIGHT.
