Overview
Sesame is creating a personal AI agent that speaks with lifelike rhythm, emotion and expressiveness, aiming to let users converse hands-free through fashionable, all-day-wearable smart glasses. The company’s demo voices, “Maya” and “Miles,” drew more than one million users who generated over five million minutes of conversation within weeks of the February stealth debut. Sesame’s forthcoming glasses promise high-quality audio and an AI companion that can "observe the world alongside you," while a newly launched, invite-only iOS beta allows testers to "search, text and think" with the agent. Reviews from outlets like The Verge call the experience “genuinely fun” and “natural-sounding,” underscoring the system’s ability to generate speech directly rather than merely reading LLM output. The founding team features Oculus veterans Brendan Iribe (CEO) and Nate Mitchell (CPO), along with former Oculus COO and Fitbit exec Hans Hartmann, ex-Reality Labs engineering director Ryan Brown, and longtime Meta executive Angela Gayles. Fuelled by a $250 million Series B round, Sesame now has significant capital to refine its software, advance hardware development and expand testing. No public timeline for commercial release has been disclosed.
