Overview
Settle is a San Francisco-based cash-flow management platform purpose-built for e-commerce and consumer brands with demanding inventory and cash conversion cycles. It provides a centralized hub to pay vendors, track payment status, manage invoices, and apply for flexible financing solutions. The company offers Settle Working Capital to help customers optimize cash flow to meet inventory needs and drive revenue. Customers include consumer brands such as Branch, Starface, and Lalo. Settle intends to use new funds to expand its customer base and develop its suite of lending products. The company is led by founder and CEO Alek Koenig. Settle, founded by Alek Koenig in 2019, provides cashflow management for e-commerce brands by combining payments, financing and accounting integrations into a single tool. It pays vendors upfront and extends payment terms, allowing companies to repay Settle 30 to 120 days later using revenue from those purchases. The company works with merchants including Italic, Huron, Brightland, Branch and Better Booch, and a customer called Settle a "game changer." So far in 2021 Settle has increased its revenues 20 times and grew to 500 merchants since last summer. The startup plans to use new capital to introduce more products quickly and hire primarily engineers, aiming to grow headcount from about 40 to 100 employees by next year. Settle says the equity raise will help it unlock additional debt to fund its lending and payments volume. Settle is a fintech startup that provides non-dilutive working capital and integrated bill-pay for e-commerce and CPG brands. Its platform automatically syncs with merchants’ accounting software to automate vendor payments and extend payment terms, allowing brands to repay Settle when inventory converts to revenue. The product also reduces expensive wire fees and is designed to be deeply embedded in merchants’ CFO workflows. Since launching its platform in June 2020, Settle reports growth of 1,000% from a small base and is working with more than 300 brands, including Lalo, Spiceology, and Disco; all growth has been organic. The company was founded in November 2019 and has a team of about 20 people. Settle plans to use the new capital to expand its team and to raise additional debt so it can continue lending to customers.
