Shake provides a smartphone app that helps users generate and sign relatively easy‑to‑understand legal agreements by answering plain‑English questions. The app supports templates for freelancing, confidentiality, buying/selling, renting, and loaning money, and users can create custom agreements. Shake launched on the iPhone two months prior to this article and the company reports 80,000 downloads and $15 million worth of agreements created and signed. Creating agreements is free today; the company plans to monetize later by adding premium features. Abe Geiger is the founder and CEO, and although he is not a lawyer he consulted lawyers (including his wife) during product development; Shake also has a chief legal officer.
