Shakr Media builds a platform that enables small companies to automatically create video clips from online information, photos, and video snippets. Its algorithmic technology assembles content into video templates and the company has launched a motion-graphics marketplace. Shakr has shifted focus toward the advertising sector to make pre-roll and other video ads accessible to SMBs that can’t afford high production costs. The company operates offices in San Francisco and Seoul and notes particularly high video-ad consumption in Seoul. Financially, Shakr has raised a total of $3 million to expand its tech platform, including a prior $700,000 seed round. The latest investor is POSCO Venture Capital, which also helped secure matching funds from the South Korean government. Shakr aims to use the funding to grow distribution of its video-ad templates and lower barriers for small-business video advertising.
