The platform automatically routes orders to venues offering the best exchange rate and sufficient liquidity, with an average order size of $150,000. As an EU-registered broker, SheeldMarket positions itself to serve European institutional investors by complying with local regulation and tailoring its product to that market. The company aims to simplify onboarding and execution for institutions that otherwise must stitch together exchanges, custodians and OTC services. SheeldMarket plans to expand its product by integrating with decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols to open high-yield opportunities for financial investors. The startup says its tooling saves time, manpower and trading costs compared with manual execution. SheeldMarket has developed a Trusted Matching Environment that guarantees absolute privacy of trading data while delivering speed, performance and ease of use. The startup’s first product is a one-stop-shop for cryptocurrency block trading, providing access to on-exchange, off-exchange and dark-pool liquidity through a single account. It targets large-size crypto traders who need to execute trades efficiently and discreetly. The company was founded in 2019 by Oliver, Arnaud and Simon after work as visiting scholars at UC Berkeley, and later added Jacques, creator and manager of Credit Suisse’s Crossfinder. Headquartered in Paris, the project was accelerated at the Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator and is incubated in a top French deep tech programme. SheeldMarket has a headcount of seven, is onboarding its first customers, and will use the seed capital to support international development and finalise filings with the AMF.
