Shelf is a San Francisco–based social platform that helps users catalog, discover, and sell products by automatically tracking purchases and letting users selectively share items with friends. At launch the site offers browsing and discovery, optional inventory tracking via email receipt scanning or Amazon purchase uploads, and selling tools that pre-fill marketplace listings. Inventory is private by default; users can organize shared items into "shelves," follow others selectively, and comment on items to begin conversations. Shelf supports receipts from over 50 online stores, including Amazon, Apple, Walmart, Target, and Zappos. Today the service pre-fills listings for Amazon and plans to add eBay and Craigslist support; later it aims to let users sell directly on Shelf with automated pricing suggestions. The underlying technology had been in development for a couple years, and the founding team includes Dayo Esho (CEO), Chris Kline (CTO), and Adriana Diakite (software engineer) with prior experience at LiveRamp, Amazon A9, Palantir, Pivotal Labs, and Google. Shelf is backed by $1.2 million in seed funding led by Google Ventures.
