Shepper operates a mobile app that lets businesses and individuals perform on-demand, tailored data collection and operational activities through a global network of local 'Shepherds.' Launched in April 2017 by Ben Prouty and based in London, the network is composed mostly of retirees and students who are paid to take photographs and file reports. The service is used by a range of small and large businesses to check distant properties and assets on a regular basis and to perform basic tasks. The app already has 3,000 Shepherds in London, Paris, and Sydney. Shepper raised £4.2m in a Series A round and plans to use the funds to accelerate product development and international marketing efforts.
