Sher.ly is a SaaS platform that provides teams and telecommuters a private, project-centric cloud designed to keep users in control of their data. The company also developed the Sherlybox, a desktop network storage device with a removable hard drive and touch sensor. In June 2014 Sher.ly ran a Kickstarter that raised over $150,000 from just under 900 backers; about 600 of those backers purchased the Sherlybox. The company reports roughly 1,000 Sherlybox units sold to date and around 6,000 business customers. Participation in TechCrunch’s Startup Battlefield in 2013 helped the company add about 600 beta users within two days of the show. Sher.ly plans to become available on every major storage platform as a hardware-agnostic solution for secure data collaboration to drive further growth.
