Sherpa has developed a personalized predictive intelligence iOS app that runs in the background and pushes contextually relevant information using location data plus personal inputs such as calendar entries and emails. The app can suggest alternate routes for commutes, notify users when it’s time to leave for flights, surface boarding-pass emails, and alert users about imminent weather changes. Sherpa says much of the work is done server-side to limit battery impact on the phone. The company is led by founder and CEO Bill Ferrell and has assembled a six-person technical team with machine-learning backgrounds. Sherpa has filed for a couple of patents around its core technology and is positioning a platform/API and partnerships as part of its future strategy. The team has opened a wider private beta of the iOS app while remaining in stealth.
