Overview
Shift.org launched to assist military personnel transitioning to civilian careers by using technology to map veterans' preferences and professional experience to civilian roles. The platform was built by people who served and focuses on translating military skills—technical literacy and operational proficiency—into qualifications employers understand. Employers can filter candidates by skills, availability, and experience level and message suitable applicants through the platform. Veterans receive a weekly email of curated opportunities (educational seminars, retraining, internships, and job openings) and can “go live” to notify partnered employers. Shift has formed deals with 20 companies, including Stripe and Flexport, to source candidates for operations and customer-success roles. The company is led by CEO Mike Slagh, a veteran who used the Department of Labor’s Transition Assistance Program, and is backed by incubator Expa with $500,000 to execute its mission.
