Shine Bathroom is building the Shine Bathroom Assistant, a battery-operated attachment that converts existing toilets into a “smart toilet” using a water vessel, bowl spray nozzle, and an accelerometer-equipped sensor. The device electrolyzes tap water in a replaceable vessel and sprays it each flush to clean and deodorize without harsh chemicals, and the company claims the spray is as powerful as bleach. A companion AI called Sam runs on users’ phones, analyzes vibration data to identify issues like leaks, can trigger free repair kits, and integrates with Alexa for voice control. The first product is being sold on Indiegogo starting at $99, with initial shipments expected in February 2020. Shine says its longer-term vision is to rethink the bathroom to reduce strain on natural resources and expand wellness and self-care capabilities at home. The startup was founded by Chris Herbert and several former Trackr colleagues and has received early investor interest from Southern California VCs.
