Shipyard Games is a Helsinki-based studio building a location-based mobile game aimed at broad, casual audiences. The company is led by CEO Andreas Wedenberg and includes veterans from Grey Area, creators of 2011’s Shadow Cities. Shipyard was formed only two months before the investment and its team includes Teemu Tuulari, Teemu Harju, Emma Huovinen, and Alex Pushilin. The team says it was inspired by Pokémon Go and plans a single-player mode as part of its design. The game is expected to launch on iOS at the beginning of 2018. Shipyard raised $2.9 million from Supercell as part of its seed round, giving Supercell a minority stake.
