Overview
ShopSavvy’s core product is a barcode-scanning mobile app that reads product barcodes via a phone camera, looks up product information, and shows pricing and availability online or at nearby stores. The app is available on iOS, Android, Windows Phone 7 and Nokia devices and has seen about 20 million downloads to date. Since launching in 2008, ShopSavvy reports over 10 million unique users, 50 million product scans per month, and partnerships with more than 40,000 retailers including Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Sears, Nordstrom and Barnes & Noble. The company also licenses scanning technology and data to over 200 companies such as Pricegrabber, The New York Times, Cnet, Consumer Reports and Walmart. Last year ShopSavvy acquired Snappr, and it offers a “Deals” function that personalizes offers based on location, history and preferences. Management and investors position the company to capture growth in mobile commerce and become a go-to mobile shopping service.
