Overview

Shopsense AI, launched in January, offers computer-vision software that lets viewers capture images of on-screen looks and explore comparable items from online retailers. Its detection model matches screen images to a database the company says contains more than 1 billion items from over 1,000 retailers, including AllSaints, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters, and Revolve. The company provides an online storefront where users upload photos (for example via shop.mtvvmas.com/vmas) and follow direct product links to retailers; the storefront does not host built-in checkout. Shopsense monetizes through a share of advertising and commerce revenue, primarily on a cost-per-click (CPC) basis, and also takes a cut of purchase volume. Founders include president and co‑founder Bryan Quinn, a former Amazon employee, and CEO and co‑founder Glenn Fishback, who previously sold Toplooks to Klarna for $133 million. The company is working to improve accuracy — for example color and framing issues — and says its model is more cost‑effective than competing tools. Shopsense has partnered with Paramount (first shown at the CMT Awards and used at the VMAs) and plans to roll the shoppable tech out across more Paramount content, including live sports, scripted and reality programs. The company previously raised $2.2 million at a $20 million post‑money valuation cap.
