Shots of Me is a full-screen, Instagram-style social app built specifically for selfies: users must shoot with the front-facing camera inside the app and can share to an internal feed or to Twitter (Instagram sharing planned). The product omits public comments to reduce drama and trolling, instead offering direct messaging between followers. The five-person RockLive team began building the app in May and launched it on iOS as a free download; the app cannot currently be found via App Store search. Design flourishes include color-adaptive caption bars and customizable navigation chrome. The company says there is no business model yet and the priority is growth; the team hopes celebrity backing will drive user acquisition. Competition cited includes Instagram, Snapchat, Frontback, Facebook and Twitter, making user growth a major challenge.
