ShowMe built an iPad app and web platform that transforms the device into an interactive video whiteboard, letting teachers record lessons with voice and on-screen drawings and share them online. The company has aggregated lessons into a searchable web hub with community-driven curation and categorization. Since launching on the App Store last summer, the app has accumulated over 400K downloads and ShowMe teachers have created over 1.5 million lessons. ShowMe’s technology also powers Princeton Review’s SAT prep app. CEO San Kim says the company’s next product focus is enhancing filtering and personalization to better match learner styles with teachers. The platform is intended for K–12 teachers and any experts (writers, musicians, artists, chefs) who want to publish lessons to a broad audience.
