Shriram Credit operates as the financial services distribution arm of Shriram Capital, comprising three businesses: Shriram Fortune (financial products distribution), Shriram Insights (broking) and Shriram Wealth Advisors. The group’s financial services business manages assets of over Rs 400 crore and serves about 650 lakh clients nationally. The company focuses on the mass market, targeting customers with monthly incomes of roughly Rs 5,000–25,000. Management says prior private-equity activity includes investments from 23 PE firms. The LeapFrog investment is intended to augment Shriram Credit’s ability to deliver insurance and expand its branch network at the lower end of the market. LeapFrog projects the investment will benefit about 1 crore beneficiaries within a year.
