Shyft Technologies
1700 7th Avenue Suite #2100, Seattle, WA, 98101, United States
Overview
Shyft provides a consumer-friendly web and mobile platform that lets frontline retail and service workers message coworkers, pick up available shifts, and swap shifts. The app aims to help employees avoid scheduling conflicts and earn more by filling open slots. Shyft has partnered with Gap Inc. to serve workers at Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta, and works with a handful of other national retailers. The company is a Techstars accelerator graduate. Co-founder and CEO Brett Patrontasch conceived the idea from his prior company, Scholars at your Service. Shyft previously raised $1.5 million in seed funding and has now secured a larger round to continue developing its workforce management tool. Shyft builds a mobile app that links hourly workers at the same employer and location, enabling them to quickly trade and cover shifts and add tips to incentivize coverage. The company reports viral, bottom-up growth: tens of thousands of shift workers on the platform, a 400% increase in its user base over the past three months, and more than 26,000 hours of work traded through the app. Shyft positions itself as a marketplace serving both workers and employers and emphasizes a mobile-first approach to scheduling flexibility. The founding team includes CEO Brett Patrontasch, Daniel Chen, Kyle Liu, and Chris Pitchford; the team is a Seattle Techstars 2016 graduate. Patrontasch previously organized college students for summer jobs, giving him direct experience with scheduling challenges. The company distributes its app via the App Store and Google Play.
