Sidewire
San Francisco, CA, United States
Overview
Sidewire is a political news analysis app that launched on iOS to provide curated commentary from journalists, analysts, campaign staff and elected officials. Influencers post a link plus a 250-character take that is overlaid on an image card and can be pushed to Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. General users can like, share, and chat within the app while influencers receive analytics on engagement. The team has assembled more than 100 influencers, including five U.S. Senators, members of Congress, and prominent analysts such as Dan Pfeiffer, David Axelrod and Chuck Todd. Sidewire is rolling out influencers via a referral process to maintain balanced conversation and is focused exclusively on politics for the 2016 election cycle. The company’s founders are Tucker Bounds (former McCain campaign spokesman and ex-Facebook communications) and Andy Bromberg (Stanford CS dropout).
