Overview
Sigmavision develops tyre-safety inspection tools centered on the TreadReader handheld scanner, which uses 3D scanning to measure tread depth and tyre wear. The scanner is usable on cars, heavy goods vehicles, buses and trailers and removes errors associated with manual dip gauges. The company also produces drive-over ramps that incorporate the same scanning technology. Founded in 2003 and led by Managing Director Dr Andrew Pryce, Sigmavision initially supplied a major garage equipment engineering firm before launching the TreadReader range to the wider market. The product has attracted interest from tyre manufacturers, garage equipment suppliers and road safety organisations. After securing £1m in funding, the company plans to scale production capacity, set up a global sales and aftersales department, and accelerate product development.
