Siine develops software that changes how users communicate on touch‑screen phones and tablets by offering a graphical UI where users tap suggested symbols instead of typing individual letters. The company’s system is designed to cut keystrokes required for virtual on‑screen keyboards and is positioned as an alternative approach to products like Swype. Siine was in alpha testing at the time of the article and the founder demonstrated the software at Le Web. The team planned an Android launch in the quarter and was already working with users on Galaxy Tab, Galaxy S and HTC Desire devices. The startup is based in Barcelona and London and was founded in 2007 by Ed Maklouf. Prior to this round, local angel investors including former FC Barcelona VP Marc Ingla had provided undisclosed capital.
