Silform Technologies is a Belfast-based developer of an environmentally clean, high-volume, low-cost pelletizing system for converting coal waste deposits into pellets with economic value. The company is developing a metallurgical coal pellet for use in the steel industry and an enhanced BioCoal product. The enhanced BioCoal is described as producing 30% less CO2 than coal while delivering a 70% increase in heat compared to pure wood biomass pellets. Silform is led by CEO Ken Flockhart and works with commercial partners to refine applications. Following the recent funding, the company plans to establish a pilot plant in Northern Ireland and expand its R&D team to broaden the solution's applications.
