Siloton
One Cathedral Square, Bristol, BS1 5DD, United Kingdom
Overview
Siloton has developed an at-home diagnostic imaging device that combines next-generation photonic hardware with cloud-based digital health tools to enable clinician-grade monitoring outside clinic settings. At the core of the product is a photonic integrated circuit (PIC) that compresses large, expensive and fragile optical components onto a single piece of material smaller than a £1 coin. The company is targeting the roughly 25% of over-60s affected by age-related macular degeneration, aiming to reduce treatment burden and help patients retain sight for longer. Siloton was recently named one of the top photonics startups in Europe (Sifted). The company plans to use new funding to accelerate development and deployment of its core product both at home and abroad. Investors and the company say the technology could reduce pressure on healthcare systems and has the potential to save the NHS around half a billion pounds each year.
