1680 Bayport Avenue, San Carlos, CA, 94070, United States
Overview
Simpirica Spine develops minimally invasive, flexion-restricting spinal stabilization devices, with its lead product the LimiFlex Spinal Stabilization System. Founded in 2006 and based in San Carlos, Calif., the company targets lumbar conditions such as spinal stenosis and degenerative spondylolisthesis where flexion can cause pain or instability for more than 400,000 patients annually worldwide. Outside the U.S. LimiFlex is CE marked and is typically used alongside surgical decompression to provide additional stabilization in flexion; in the U.S. it remains limited to investigational use. The company intends to use its recent funding to support European commercialization of LimiFlex. Management says the financing leaves Simpirica well capitalized and positioned to expand its presence. Simpirica developed and tested its technology over many years with the help of clinical and biomechanical experts.
