Overview
Simple Habit offers five-minute guided meditations designed to help busy people build a consistent mindfulness habit. CEO and co‑founder Yunha Kim built the product with the ambition of creating a "Spotify for Meditation." The company graduated Y Combinator and is a Shark Tank alum. It has been making a concerted push to increase available content on the platform. According to SensorTower, Simple Habit was the third most popular meditation app in the iOS App Store for Q3 2018, trailing Calm and Headspace in downloads and revenue. At the time of the article the company had raised $12.5 million in total funding. Simple Habit provides more than 1,000 short guided meditation sessions across iOS, Android and the web, delivered by independent mindfulness teachers. The app is built around situational sessions (e.g., sleep therapy, start to the day, meditation for engineers) and shares subscription revenue with teachers based on session popularity. It runs a subscription model charging $11.99 per month or $99 per year for premium access. Founder Yunha Kim began the project after burning out at her prior startup, Locket, and grew the product from a side project into a full-time company after postponing business school. With new funding, the company plans to expand its engineering team, add more content, enable offline downloads, and improve personalization and recommendations. The product positioning emphasizes short, contextual meditation breaks rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
