Overview
Simr (formerly UberCloud) offers a Simulation Operations Automation (SimOps) platform that lets engineers run automated, high-performance cloud simulations using any compute resources and leading simulation tools. The platform eliminates the need to specify, procure, and manage complex HPC environments while enabling implementation of best practices used by top manufacturers, and the company says it accelerates simulations by an average of 10X. Simr integrates with major simulation vendors including Ansys, Siemens, and Dassault Systèmes and supports deployment in public, private, or hybrid cloud environments with the customer's cloud account to retain data control and security. The company highlights fixed, per-user pricing (rather than consumption-based) to promote broader simulation use and to preserve customers' negotiated relationships with software and cloud providers. Simr cites traction with customers and partners such as BorgWarner, DEHN, FLSmidth, Buro Happold, Ozen Engineering, and Trantor Enterprises, and references work with three of the seven most successful tech companies. Headquartered in Los Altos, California, Simr says it aims to make SimOps the new standard in manufacturing design by making advanced simulation practices broadly available and easier to adopt. UberCloud operates an online community, marketplace, and software container factory where engineers, scientists and service providers discover, try, and buy high-performance computing power and engineering SaaS from cloud resource providers and application vendors worldwide. Its software container technology is based on Docker and simplifies software packageability and portability, enables instant access to engineering SaaS solutions, and maintains scalability across multiple compute nodes. The company aggregates cloud compute resources and application software to streamline access and use for technical users. UberCloud is led by co-founder and President Wolfgang Gentzsch and CEO and co-founder Burak Yenier. In January 2017 the company raised $1.7M in funding. It intends to use the funds to build the team and expand operations.
