Single Technologies has developed a DNA sequencing solution that combines imaging, biotechnology and fibre optics to increase sequencing speed while reducing costs. The technology is based on many years of research at institutions including KTH in Stockholm and is currently used at SciLifeLab to deliver data to the Human Cell Atlas project. The company holds patents on its approach and has attracted interest from several leading technology companies in the industry. This week Single Technologies completed a new share issue of 15 million SEK with the Sciety investment syndicate, capital the company says is decisive for achieving its product development goals. The new funds will be used to adapt the instrument for NGS analysis, where the company has a large base of potential clients and partners. If the instrument's performance within NGS is evidenced, Single Technologies expects the technology to be of interest to major players in the billion-dollar NGS market.
