Overview
Singularity 6 is building Palia, a community-simulation MMO that emphasizes social and community mechanics over combat. The game leans into Animal Crossing–like community mechanics within a medieval, Zelda-like open world where players move between towns, farm, collect resources, and build structures in a shared world. The studio markets the title as designed to create community, friendships and a real sense of belonging, and it is currently taking sign-ups for pre-alpha access. Singularity 6 has been scaling up its team and operations as it prepares for launch. Financially, the company disclosed a $30M Series B led by FunPlus Ventures, bringing its disclosed funding to roughly $49M. Andreessen Horowitz, LVP, Transcend, Anthos Capital and Mitch Lasky also participated; a16z previously led a $16.5M Series A in 2019. Singularity 6 is positioning itself as a game-and-tech company that aims to build a “virtual society” where users form relationships with in-game characters powered by complex AI. The team says its first product will combine virtual community simulation with deep, compelling gameplay, taking influences from Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The company is developing custom technology to handle MMO aspects and virtual community features because it says off-the-shelf solutions don’t exist for its needs. CEO and co-founder Anthony Leung has described the title as still “a ways out” from launch. Singularity 6 is operating in stealth and has previously raised a $2.5 million seed round led by London Venture Partners. Its recent financing provides capital to continue building the underlying world and tech for its community simulation focus. Singularity 6 is a Los Angeles game developer formed by former Riot Games leads Aidan Karabaich and Anthony Leung. The studio is developing an unannounced, self-described "genre-defining" PC online game that blends community simulation, rewarding game design, and deep systems to create varied in-game experiences. Development is already underway and the company says it aims to create online titles that become meaningful social communities and a key part of players' identities. Founded earlier this year, the studio currently has a handful of employees and plans to use its new funding to build the team and hire top talent. Singularity 6 raised $2.5 million in seed financing from London Venture Partners to support its first product's development. CEO Anthony Leung framed the studio's vision around games as sources of community akin to church or sports teams, and LVP said the partnership will drive an evolution in how people play together.
