Overview
SIQ Basketball (also referred to as SportIQ in the article) builds connected sports balls that house a patented, in-valve sensor system to capture data on shooting position, power, angle and technique. The data syncs to a subscription-based mobile application that analyzes performance and offers personalized training recommendations for athletes at all skill levels. Its technology is already embedded in the Spalding TF DNA basketball and is being piloted in a professional league to assist officiating. Multiple patents cover the sensor system and analytics platform. The company intends to broaden its product lineup within basketball and adapt the sensor platform to additional sports. New capital will be channeled toward market expansion, further platform development and professional-league applications. To date, the company has raised $6.2 million in Series A funding.
