Overview

Sirius is a technology training school founded by Felipe Matos with cofounders Rafaela Herrera, Fernando Americano and Arnobio Morelix that aims to train professionals in data science, programming and digital product management. The company offers six-month micro-certification programs with tracks in Data Science & AI, Web Application Development and Digital Product Management and emphasizes practical, project-based learning in partnership with hiring companies. Its methodology combines peer learning, workshops, individualized mentorship and real-company challenges, with mentors that include C-level and senior professionals from firms such as Nubank and iFood and researchers with Berkeley and Stanford experience. Sirius is headquartered in Belo Horizonte and will begin operations online, later shifting to a hybrid model with physical hubs in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Florianópolis. The startup raised R$5 million in investments to start operations; backers include Garan Ventures, angel investors Rafael Assunção and Camila Farani, entrepreneurs Rodrigo Cartacho, João Selarin and Gustavo do Valle, and executives from Twitter, Zoom, Zendesk and Intercom. The company plans to expand its poles to major Brazilian cities and to connect graduates directly with employers to help address the country’s technology talent shortage.
