Sisir Radar designs, engineers and builds proprietary L- and P-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) payloads capable of 0.75-metre resolution in L-band and 2.5-metre resolution in P-band—performance the company claims is ten times better than prevailing global standards. Its full-stack approach spans waveform design, on-board processing, ground systems and analytics, enabling continuous, all-weather imaging for defence, disaster management, environmental monitoring and urban planning. Founded by ISRO veteran Tapan Misra, along with Soumya Misra and Urmi Bhambhani, the startup has already won two iDEX challenges to build specialised SAR satellites for the Indian Air Force and is collaborating with multiple defence-sector stakeholders. Sisir Radar is developing next-generation systems for platforms ranging from spaceborne to airborne, with the flagship goal of orbiting India’s first privately built L-band SAR satellite by 2026. The company positions its longer-wavelength capability as critical for foliage and ground penetration in India’s cloud-prone geography. A recently closed $7 million Series A round provides capital to transition from prototypes to orbital assets and expand its R&D pipeline.
