Sitara (SEWA Grih Rin Ltd) is an affordable housing finance company incepted in 2015 that combines lending with social impact to serve families working in the informal sector. It operates through a network of 75 branches across nine states and offers loans ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹30 lakhs for house construction, extension, purchase and renovation. The firm is registered with the National Housing Bank and regulated by the Reserve Bank of India. Sitara says it has formalised land titles on 47% of its loans and that 48% of assets are financed in the name of women. The company focuses on extending home loans to women from the informal sector to promote financial inclusion and women’s economic empowerment. The fresh capital is intended to enhance Sitara’s loan book and expand operations into new locations.
