Six Degrees is a London-based managed data services provider selling datacentre, connectivity, voice and cloud offerings to UK mid-market and corporate customers. The company raised £8m in new funding from Penta Capital. It has completed the acquisition of Cloud Computing Centre (CCC), a Surrey-based managed cloud hosting expert established in 1999. CCC is led by CEO Keith Bates, serves over 100 mid-market hosting customers and is a Microsoft Gold Partner and Silver Hosting Partner. Six Degrees, led by CEO Alastair Mills, said the acquisition complements its existing technology and will strengthen its ability to win mid-market and corporate cloud hosting contracts and to deliver new services to existing clients. Six Degrees is a London-based managed data services provider offering private, enterprise-grade cloud services, datacenter co-location and managed hosting, Internet connectivity (including Enterprise MPLS and wholesale line rental), and carrier-neutral voice services. The company targets the UK mid-market — the roughly 90,000 companies that employ between 50 and 1,000 people — and already serves over 1,200 business customers. It has about 100 employees and says its private cloud products have grown roughly 800% in the last 12 months. Six Degrees positions its private cloud as a business-oriented alternative to public clouds like Amazon Web Services and iCloud and aims to support the BYOD trend by managing dispersed devices and services. The company plans to use the new funding to acquire assets in the managed data services market.
