Sizl
Redwood City, CA, United States
Overview
Sizl is a Chicago-based cook-to-order delivery service that focuses on Eastern European cuisine and promises meals made from fresh ingredients delivered in about 30 minutes. Unlike typical ghost kitchens, Sizl operates its own kitchens staffed by a small team of Ukrainian cooks and local Chicago culinary talent, runs its own delivery couriers, and offers a mobile app with rewards, an in-app currency, and mini-games. The menu is limited to about 60 items at a time and includes dishes like chicken kiev, pierogies, borscht, and syrniki, including family recipes from co-founder Anastasia Kalinkina. Sizl says it sources a significant portion of ingredients from local suppliers such as Greensys while also working with larger distributors including US Foods and Sysco. The company recently raised a $3.5M seed at a $12M post-money valuation and plans to use the funding to expand its footprint in Chicago and explore other U.S. markets. It currently operates two locations, plans to open up to four more kitchens this year, is exploring expansion into Boston, Charlotte, and the San Francisco Bay Area, and is targeting a Series A round later this year or in early 2026.
