SkillVeri develops indigenous, low-cost welding simulators and a scalable multi-skill simulator platform to provide vocational training for manufacturing and production jobs. Founded in 2012 and incubated at the Rural Technology Business Incubator (RTBI) at IIT Madras, the company claims the most widely installed welding simulator in India and says its product is available at roughly half the price of the nearest competitor. SkillVeri uses a ‘‘psycho-physics’-driven digital dexterity mapping approach to develop targeted products across domains. The company has trained more than 12,000 students to date and recently exported simulators to the UAE and Bhutan. It reported Rs 4 crore in revenues through the end of the last financial year and expects to at least match that figure this year. With the new financing, SkillVeri plans to train 500,000 youth over the next five years and expand into four new industries (including spray painting, paramedical procedures and jewellery making) and six new geographies.
