Overview
Skorpios Technologies, founded in July 2009 and based in Albuquerque, N.M., designs, develops and manufactures integrated optical modules and subsystems. Its core technology is a Composite‑Semiconductor on Insulator (C‑SOI) process that enables generation, detection and modulation of light monolithically integrated with high‑speed electronic circuits in a standard CMOS‑compatible foundry process. The company intends to use the new capital to expand its infrastructure and complete commercialization of its core technology. Skorpios raised an additional $2m in a follow‑on to its Series B, bringing the Series B total to $21m. Investors include T‑Venture, Cottonwood Technology Fund, Sun Mountain Capital, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks and other undisclosed investors. The company is continuing to hire as it advances commercialization.
