Skuid provides a no-code, design-first cloud application development platform that integrates with multiple databases and unifies disparate data sources. Its cloud platform allows customers to connect to disparate data sources, assemble complex, made-to-order applications and make changes without writing code. The investment from Marlin is intended to enable the company to expand capabilities for web and mobile application development across all lines of business. Skuid was founded in 2013 by CEO Ken McElrath and is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with an additional office in San Francisco. More than five million users across 32 countries use Skuid to engage with each other, with their data and with new customers. The deal amount was not disclosed. Skuid provides a "codeless" user interface that enables non-developers to build business-intelligence applications, toolbars, and data visualizations using point-and-click and drag-and-drop. Its platform is built atop REST APIs and integrates with Oracle, Microsoft, Salesforce, Slack and many other business-facing systems. The Skuid Model connects multiple data sources so users can click objects and drag them into tabs or visualizations to create views of company data. The company is already planning a voice-activated UI that would integrate with technologies like Amazon's Alexa and Apple’s Siri to let users create tables and fetch contacts by voice. Skuid said it will use the new financing to further develop its technology and product roadmap. The company is headquartered in Chattanooga, Tenn., where low-cost, high-speed internet and local conditions influenced its launch and operations.
