Skyfire Labs is a Mountain View, California-based provider of mobile video optimization and cloud solutions for mobile operators and consumers. It offers Rocket Optimizer 2.0, a carrier-grade network video and data optimization platform launched in October 2011. The company also sells the Rocket Toolbar product line, a customizable web-based operator portal embedded in the default browser of new smartphones. Led by CEO Jeff Glueck, Skyfire intends to use its latest funding to increase engineering, sales, and support resources. It plans to expand into European and Asian markets and has opened an EMEA office in London. Most recently Skyfire raised $8m in a Series C financing. Skyfire Labs builds a server-assisted mobile browser that shifts a significant portion of page rendering to a server, freeing handset CPU and RAM. That architecture lets the browser support rich media such as Flash and AJAX on phones.
