Overview

SkyGiraffe provides an enterprise mobility platform that lets employees access line-of-business apps and enterprise data from virtually any device. Its core product is the SkyGiraffe Integration Server, which pulls data from standard enterprise databases and applications like Salesforce and Workday, and the SkyGiraffe Studio drag-and-drop interface for building mobile apps. Organizations can distribute apps via a self-hosted distribution server behind the firewall or use SkyGiraffe’s cloud services to distribute, manage, and integrate data. The company recently added a REST endpoint and published code on GitHub — including a Slack bot — so third-party front-ends like Slack, Office 365, Skype and Google Sheets can be integrated through a single API. SkyGiraffe says its approach shortens cross-platform development cycles to a day versus months for custom native development, and will use the new funding to expand the breadth and capabilities of its platform. Today’s round brings the company’s total funding to $10.5 million. Founder and CEO Boaz Hecht framed the platform as enabling secure, scalable data access to optimize business processes in the mobile era. SkyGiraffe provides a code-free platform that enables companies to quickly build and deploy custom mobile apps without the need for large development teams. Its service can be molded to fit various security setups and aims to produce apps in hours for employee use. The company sees synergy with Microsoft’s enterprise sales team and counts Microsoft Ventures (via its Bing Fund) as an early investor. CEO Boaz Hecht declined to disclose core growth metrics; the company has 15 employees split between Menlo Park and Israel and expects headcount to at least double by the end of 2015. SkyGiraffe has raised $4.5 million to date and must now prove enterprise demand with its expanded resources. Trilogy Equity Partners taking a board seat signals investor involvement beyond capital. SkyGiraffe provides a customizable mobile platform that connects enterprise back ends (Oracle, MS SQL and other systems) to native iOS and Android apps, enabling secure read-and-write access to live sales, finance, inventory and operational data. IT managers install a client and SkyGiraffe Studio, select the backend and data source, define security and policies, and can produce mobile access within roughly 30 minutes. The product targets enterprises that want to avoid large integration projects or dedicated developer hires by offering rapid integration and admin-controlled access. SkyGiraffe competes with tools such as Capriza and IBM Worklight. The company is in a private beta and enterprise customers can request invites. SkyGiraffe’s founders are Boaz Hecht (CEO) and Itay Braun (VP R&D). SkyGiraffe builds SkyGiraffe Studio, a platform that connects data from disparate business groups and systems of record (ERP/CRM) to mobile apps so employees can access on‑premise data securely. An IT manager installs the client, selects the back end and data source, and defines security and IT policies; SkyGiraffe says an enterprise can provide secure access within 30 minutes. The company is positioning its product as a faster, cheaper alternative to building internal mobile development teams and competes with custom mobile-app developers such as Capriza and IBM Worklight. SkyGiraffe is demonstrating its technology at a Microsoft Demo Day and is accepting applications into a private beta. The company has raised a seed round from well-known investors, and investors quoted praise the product’s speed and cost advantages. SkyGiraffe plans to make the platform more self-serve by developing connectors to reduce the need for a data analyst to get started.
